About Us

The Afghan Community of Charlottesville (ACCV) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit Organization founded in 2022 by Mohammad Nasim Kakar. Our mission is to support the Afghan community in Charlottesville and surrounding regions of Virginia  including both newcomers and long established residents — by helping them adapt, thrive and preserve their cultural heritage.

We are committed to promoting the interests of the Afghan community in all areas of cultural, religious, and social needs. Our goal is to protect and celebrate Afghan culture language, and traditions while empowering individuals to participate fully in American society.

As the only IRS-recognized Afghan community organization in the region, ACCV provides vital services resources, and community connections that strengthen and unify the Afghan community. We work to ensure that all members, whether newly arrived or long-standing residents, have access to support networks, educational opportunities, and cultural programs.
